Convatec Stomahesive Protective Powder is a specialized skin care product designed to manage weeping skin (skin that is raw, moist, or irritated) around a stoma. It works by absorbing moisture to create a dry surface, which helps ostomy skin barriers and wafers adhere better to the skin.

How to Use (The “Crusting” Technique)
Clean the Skin: Gently wash the area around the stoma with warm water and pat dry.
Apply Powder: Puff a small amount of the Stomahesive Powder onto the irritated or moist areas of the skin.
Remove Excess: Gently brush away any loose or excess powder so only a thin layer remains on the affected spots.
Seal with Barrier Spray/Wipe: Apply a sting-free skin barrier (like Esenta) over the powder. This “seals” the powder and creates a smooth, dry “crust” for the adhesive to stick to.
Apply Appliance: Once the area is dry to the touch, apply your new ostomy pouching system as usual.
Important Note: Stomahesive powder should only be used on raw or moist skin. If your skin is healthy and dry, you do not need to use powder, as it can actually interfere with the adhesive if applied unnecessarily.
